Music Ministry

choir4.jpg (153410 bytes)Musicians play an essential role in our liturgical celebrations.  The primary duty of the music minister is to lead the people in prayer and worship through musical praise and thanksgiving.  Our music needs are varied and diverse.  We have several different choirs for children and adults who serve at our weekend liturgies.  We are also in need of additional instrumentalists including organists, pianists, guitarists, violinists, etc.  We would also welcome the involvement of those with the ability to be cantors or to be trained as cantors for our weekend liturgies.   liturgy[at]sjccduluth.org

Readers

reading2.jpg (76605 bytes)Proclaim the Word of God at weekend and special liturgies.  Initial training is provided as well as occasional or seasonal workshops.  Public speaking and a desire to learn more about Sacred Scripture is helpful.  The impact of the proclamation of God's Word depends significantly on the preparation, the delivery, and the conviction of the Reader.   liturgy[at]sjccduluth.org

Communion Ministers

Share the Body and Blood of Christ as minister of the bread or cup at weekend and special liturgies.  Initial training is provided as well as occasional or seasonal workshops.   liturgy[at]sjccduluth.org

Minister of Hospitality (Greeter)

Greet and welcome parishioners and visitors at weekend and special liturgies.  Greeters work with a team to help create an environment of hospitality and welcome.  Training is provided.  This ministry is open to entire families - young and old alike.  Hospitality Ministers also bring up the gifts during the Offertory.   liturgy[at]sjccduluth.org

Altar Servers

beforemass.jpg (128023 bytes)The name now given to those who assist the presider at the Eucharistic liturgy really does indicate their job description.  They are called to "service", a basic attribute of all Christians.  It is not a ministry to draw attention to oneself, but to facilitate the community in our great prayer of thanksgiving, the Eucharist.   liturgy[at]sjccduluth.org
