Coffee Sundays

Nobody does it better than St John's.  Friendly and informal.  This is one of the best ways to meet other parishioners.  It happens after most Sunday Masses.  Just listen for the announcement at the end of Mass.

This also offers a great opportunity to participate.  Mass Sundays are available for your group, organization, or family and friends to put on this service.  It's easy and fun to do.  Call the parish office to volunteer.  We will provide all the instructions.

Donut Crew

This groups makes and sells donuts to parish members and community businesses.  Donut weekends are the first weekend of the month from October through December, and February through May.  Depending on the job, it's about a two or three hour commitment early Saturday mornings.  No experience is necessary!  Volunteer drivers are also needed.

Summer Feastival / Octoberfest

These special social events are a way to celebrate the seasons and gather together as a church community.  The events include music, food and games for all ages.  Weather permitting, Summer Feastival also includes an outdoor Mass.  These events depend entirely on parish members to volunteer, so everyone's help and energy is welcome.   info[at]sjccduluth.org

Lenten Soup Suppers

Soup Suppers, sponsored by various church organizations, take place on Wednesdays during Lent at 5:30 PM in the church hall.  Everyone is welcome.  Please bring your own bowl and utensils.  The suppers are followed by Stations of the Cross at 6:30 PM in the church.

Bazaar / Parish Raffle

This annual craft, plant and bakery fair is held at the end of October and includes our parish raffle.  Tables are rented out to about 50 crafters.  Luncheon and other food is prepared and sold along with smaller raffle items.  A book of raffle tickets is sent to all parishioners in hopes they will either buy or sell these tickets.  Prizes are awarded to the winners.  It's a fun event for volunteers and many are needed.

Basketball (Liniment League)

Throughout the year men of all ages and ability gather in the St John's gym for some friendly pickup basketball.  Sign up for email notices that will alert you to the next game.

Garden Club.

A group of "green thumbs" here at St John's have divided the gardens around the church into plots that are maintained by people who have signed up to do so.  They also have seasonal get-togethers.

Spring - Clean up gardens and do new planting
Summer - Maintain assigned areas.  This is also done independently.
Fall - Get gardens ready for winter.

Money raised from hosting a Coffee Sunday or two is used to buy new plants.  Donated plants are always welcome.
